“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you: never will I forsake you” …Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever”     Hebrews 13:5 & 8

Administrative Council approved the 2012 balanced budget and we continue to have faith that our income and expenses will be as we anticipate. One of the unknowns right now is the fund-raisers. I hope all of you will support the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day corn beef dinner and silent auction. All current bills have been paid and our apportionments have been paid through the end of March. Thank you all for your generosity in helping to run this church financially.

I’ve been thinking a lot about man’s economy vs. God’s economy.  Man’s economy is fixated on money and, now a days, filled with fear.  God’s economy is fixed on Him and filled with peace and contentment. In which economy do we want to live?  Mom and I had the unfortunate experience of having a workman in our house in January who decided to help himself to some of our gold jewelry. He was willing to risk his job and his reputation for a few hundred dollars at the local pawnshop. The police and the insurance company were looking for replacement costs. How much the items were worth would dictate the degree of the larceny for the arrest and the replacement value. But there is no replacement value on two wedding rings from 1951 and a gold locket, with pictures of children and grandchild given on an 80th birthday. Pity the world that can only live in man’s economy, Pity the man who could only see the gold when he looked at those rings and locket. Give thanks to God that what that gold represented, a marriage and family built on love for each other and love of God, can never be stolen or taken away.

Great is your faithfulness, O God, our Father, morning-by-morning, new mercies we see. We know that your hands will supply all that we need. You know exactly what we need, when we need it, and how our needs will best be met. Help us to know that our purpose in life is not just happiness but to be your stewards. Help us to realize successfulness isn’t personal achievement but faithfulness to you. Help us to understand that what is really important is not wealth and power but knowing you.

Help us to dwell in your economy even while we live in man’s economy. AMEN

God Bless,

Sherri
