Family Fun Movie Night

Come join us for outdoor movies, popcorn, refreshments and more!

This summer we are planning two fun filled Friday evenings for adults and children. Weather permitting; we will have movies outdoors on Friday evening Friday August 23rd. The program will start at 7:30pm. The first movie to be shown is “The Grace Card”, a film that is rated PG13 and appropriate for an older teen and adult audience. The story proves that “everything can change in an instant and take a lifetime to unravel.” This is the story of a policeman, his family, and their life’s journey. The children will be shown a fun movie of their own and perhaps play some board games, time permitting. On August 23 the adult film will be “Fireproof”, a movie about a fire captain, his crew, and his family. Please contact Linsey Walters for more information. Plan to join us for these two summer adventures.

Boy Scout News

Boy Scout Troop 1 had a camp out at Hammonassett in June, then
finished off the scouting year with a picnic and a Court of Honor.
We had a record number of scouts advancing in rank at the Court of Honor, as well as 1 scout finishing up his Eagle project in June. And we have another scout working on his Eagle project this July also.
Troop 1 spent the week of July 7th in the "tropical rain forest" of Camp Sequassen in northeastern CT. The temps were in the 90s and it managed to rain several times a day. The scouts won the "Spirit Stick" on Wednesday. On Friday during the camp wide "Land & Sea" games the troop placed 1st in the Scoutmaster sit-off and in the Scoutmaster splash, as well as 2nd & 3rd in several other events. Everyone had a great time!
We have a campfire night planned for August, and then we start back to our regular scouting night schedule in September. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer

Guidelines for our prayer ministry

There are two prayer ministries supported by our church community. One is the Prayer Chain which is made up of two groups of individuals who have pledged to pray for church members whose need is acute and immediate. Once they are contacted, they covenant to pray for the individual(s) or the concern for the next 24 hours. This list of people and concerns is strictly confidential. To make a prayer need known, or to become a member of the prayer chain team, please call Emmy Lou Atherholt at 269-6681, or the pastor.

The second ministry is called “Our Circle of Prayers”. This is a list of people and concerns that appear weekly in our church bulletin. This list is open to any person and/or concern, and is made available so that anyone in the community can be in prayer. To include a person or concern on this list, please call Emmy Lou, the pastor, or the church office. These people and concerns are also held up in prayer during our Wednesday prayer meetings which begin at 7:30 pm at the church, and to which everyone is invited.

To protect people’s privacy, and to be sensitive to their wishes, it is best if the person to be prayed for, or a close relative, is the one that initiates the prayer request. Also, please leave a contact number with your request, so the church can know when to keep or remove a particular person or concern. As a general rule, the Circle of Prayers will be up-dated monthly.
