Dear Friends in Christ,

We are people of “The Book”, yet we don’t seem to get together for Bible study as much as we used to. This could be because of the pace of our lives today and our full schedules, or perhaps because of a boring experience in the past, or any number of other reasons, but I can testify that a small scripture group in my home church and many of the Bible courses I had in seminary were transformative experiences, and I want to continue to foster that kind of fellowship and learning here.

Whether at the church, in our homes, or in a coffee shop or cafe whether in the evening, or during the day, or, hopefully, all of the above (!), I’d like to help sustain dedicated, exciting, innovative, life-changing study, discussion, reflection, meditation, and action based on our communal consideration of the Holy Scriptures, with forays into the Apocryphal Books, the non-canonical gospels and letters, the Nag Hammadi texts, the Dead-Sea Scrolls, and, indeed, any writings that will help to bring us together to think more deeply and passionately about the roots and implications of our Christian faith, for ourselves as individuals, as members of our church, and as part of the global body of Christ.

So, I hope you will join me and your friends and neighbors in this endeavor. The only thing left is the logistics. Where and when will it be convenient for you to gather? What kind of study do you want? How can the church help you with resources? Who do you want to invite to join you?

Please let me know if you are interested, even if you are not sure of anything else! I will do my best to help get a group off the ground that will be at a convenient time and place for you.

Let’s be known as a church where excited people are reading and discussing exciting things which are helping them think and share in exciting ways, which help them live exciting, spirit-filled lives!

Sincerely, in Christ,
Pastor Steve
