In 2013, Rev. George Donigian, Pastor of the Monaghan United Methodist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, wrote A World Worth Saving which “looks at basic acts of mercy and justice and connects these outer actions with our inner practices of prayer, Bible reading, and the Lenten fast”(p. 9).There are 6 chapters—one for each week in Lent—and I’d like to invite you to use this book as one of your guides as we travel toward the promise of new life at Easter through this time of preparation, reflection, and renewal. We will meet on Wednesdays at either10 am and 7 pm on these dates to discuss the following chapters:Wednesday, March 12: Chapter 1, Fasting from apathyWednesday, March 19: Chapter 2, Serving God by serving othersWednesday, March 26: Chapter 3, Feeding others and starving our guiltWednesday, April 2: Chapter 4, Seeking justiceWednesday, April 9, Chapter 5, Healing the worldWednesday, April 16, Chapter 6, Refining FriendshipAlso, feel free to use this book for your private Lenten devotions as well. And if Wednesdays are not available to you, I would be happy to gather at a more convenient time as well. You can pick up your copy of A World Worth Saving by stopping by or calling the church office.Rev. Donigian has a very interesting and varied background, and this study promises to be an exciting and transformative small-group experience. Please join us! Pastor Steve

How do we reach God’s Children and show them we care? We bring Jesus to the Community.
Easter is a traditional time for the Church community to welcome new members and in Lent perspective members take time to learn about the Christian tradition in preparation for their profession of faith. Methodism 101 will offer anyone who is contemplating joining our church an opportunity to familiarize themselves with what membership is, to become more knowledgeable about the traditions of Methodism, and about Christian history in general, and to prepare for the transformative impact of the grace that comes from confessing Jesus Christ as lord and savior in the midst of a specific faith community. Two sessions are scheduled in March: Saturday morning on the 15th and the 29th, from 10am to 12 noon. All are welcome, whether or not they decide to join our church. Current church members are also encouraged to attend to give valuable evangelical witness, to refresh their own knowledge, and to help communicate the faith by sharing their personal journey.
